Social Work

The Social Work Department provides a service for inpatients and some outpatients of Naas General Hospital.
Medical social workers work as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide professional counselling, support, information and practical assistance to patients and their families.

We work with individuals, families and groups, and can help with a wide range of issues including:
Emotional, financial and other  aspects  of coping with illness
Future care planning and carer support
Trauma, bereavement, domestic violence and other crisis situations
Abuse or neglect of children or vulnerable adults
Information on entitlements and services
Liaison/referral to appropriate outside agencies.
Referrals to the Social Work Department can be made by the patient, family members or friends, and by health-care and other professionals in the hospital or community.
