(a) Videoconferencing uses telecommunications of audio and video bringing together people from multiple locations. Videoconferencing is available from meeting rooms in NGH. This service enables NGH to connect to numerous sites using a primary rate interface to the integrated services digital network (ISDN).
(b) Text Messages: Naas General Hospital can now text patients reminders 4 days prior to their Out-patient appointment. Clerical Officers collect patients’ mobile numbers on registering patients at the clinics.
(c) Health Promotion Stand: Health Education Learning Point
is established in the main foyer of the hospital with the kind assistance of Friends of Naas Hospital and The Hospital Partnership Group. This multi functional highly visible open 'user friendly', health promotion centre, hopes to encourage staff, patients and members of the public to seek health information by
providing access to on-line Health Information sites
displaying Health Information literature and posters
providing a consultation area where information can be provided by Health Professionals on specific Health Awareness days.
There is an ICT Steering group in place which have put in place a framework document outlining the future plans for ICT services in the hospital. This strategy document outlines the current status of ICT in Naas General Hospital and outlines new priorities moving forward from 2009 into 2012.
