What to Bring to the Hospital

Being admitted to a hospital can be a concerning experience, often accompanied by feelings of anxiety. However, the staff at Naas General Hospital are committed to ensuring your care and well-being. Should you experience any anxiety or have questions, please do not hesitate to communicate your concerns to them.

As well as your Admission Letter, patients are asked to bring only essential items such as:

  • Sleepwear
  • Suitable footwear
  • Comfortable day clothes
  • Toiletries
  • List of medication
  • Any equipment used in our care (such as walking aids etc.)
  • Phone charger and ear phones (if required)
  • Personal and medical insurance information
  • For patients with hearing aids, glasses or dentures, please ensure that you have secure and labelled storage containers for hearing aids, glasses and dentures.

Place all items in a clearly labelled carry bag with name tag.

Important Guidelines for Visitors: Ensuring Safety and Respect in Our Hospital

  • Wash hands with soap or water/alcohol gel on entering/leaving and before/after patient contact
  • Consider the needs of other patients’ and staff
  • Be polite and comply with any request to leave while we facilitate care
  • Observe confidentiality – you may see/hear things of a private and confidential nature
  • Always enter and exit the hospital through the main entrance doors or as specified
  • Keep mobile phones/electronic devices on silent and leave ward to take /receive calls
  • Do not touch patient’s dressings, drips, catheters, oxygen tubing etc.
  • Do not to sit/lie on patients beds/trolleys
  • Do not bring in hot drinks/food onto wards
  • Do not access unauthorised areas, e.g. ward kitchens
  • Help keep our hospital clean and inform staff of any cleaning concerns
  • Be responsible for the safety and security of your belongings
  • Follow hospital car parking regulations
  • Do not visit if under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs
  • Follow fire safety regulations and if the fire alarm is activated calmly leave the building through the nearest fire exit (do not use the lift)
  • Do not film or take photographs in the hospital or on hospital grounds

Visiting Restrictions

Individual wards may need to implement visiting restrictions due to higher levels of infection, patients will be notified when this happens and information screens will be updated to make visitors aware.   This is to protect patients, staff, and the wider community.

Do NOT visit if you have respiratory symptoms, sore throat, flu like symptoms, vomiting and/or diarrhoea or any other infections.
