Patient's Property and Valuables

Naas General Hospital ensures that patients’ personal cash and valuables are dealt with in accordance with the National Financial Regulation C-1 Patients’ Private Property and Finances.

Naas General Hospital cannot accept responsibility for the loss, theft or damage to any valuables, money or other articles that you bring with you.

You are strongly advised not to bring jewellery and other valuables to hospital.

If you are admitted without advance preparation, please ask a family member or friend to take your valuables home.

Any valuables or cash accepted from the patient for safekeeping during a patient’s stay, are held in accordance with the “Safe Keeping of Patients Property Guidelines”.

Hospital Advisory: Leave Valuables at Home

Please do not bring:

  • Valuables i.e. any items of value or intrinsic value including (and not limited to):
    • Credit/debit cards
    • Deposit books
    • Jewellery
    • Mobile phones
    • Handbags
    • Wallet
    • Keys
    • Documents of legal title

What to Bring to the Hospital

Being admitted to a hospital can be a concerning experience, often accompanied by feelings of anxiety. However, the staff at Naas General Hospital are committed to ensuring your care and well-being. Should you experience any anxiety or have questions, please do not hesitate to communicate your concerns to them.

Patients are asked to bring only essential items such as:

  • Sleepwear
  • Suitable footwear
  • Comfortable day clothes
  • Toiletries
  • List of medication
  • Any equipment used in our care (such as walking aids etc.)
  • Phone charger and ear phones (if required)
  • Personal and medical insurance information
  • For patients with hearing aids, glasses or dentures, please ensure that you have secure and labelled storage containers for hearing aids, glasses and dentures.

Place all items in a clearly labelled carry bag with name tag.
