Imaal Ward is a 31-bed acute general medical unit, specialising in the care of the older adults.
The ward consists of four 6-bed bays, one 3-bed bay and four single rooms. The single rooms are used for isolation purposes or they can be allocated as private rooms, when available. Our aim is to deliver quality patient centred care to meet the needs of our patients to the best of our ability.
The ward has one 6 bed bay Stroke unit allocated for Stroke patients. Active Stroke Neuro Rehabilitation are being facilitated in the Rehab Room located near the Stroke unit.
There is also one 6 bed bay called “Dementia- friendly” bay that caters patients with Dementia diagnosis.
Imaal Ward accepts admissions from the Emergency Department and transfers from other wards and hospitals. Ward organisation and administration of nursing services is delivered using team nursing.
The Roper, Logan and Tierney model of Nursing Care is used to assess, plan, put in place and check patients’ needs and requests. Family and relatives are actively encouraged to participate in the patient’s treatment programme.
