Liffey Ward

Liffey ward is a 31-bed general medical ward. Our aim is to meet the needs of our patients to the best of our ability

Liffey Ward accepts admissions from A&E, transfers from other wards in Naas Hospital and transfers from other hospitals such as St James’s Hospital, Beaumont Hospital and the Adelaide and Meath Hospital, to name a few. Ward organisation and administration of nursing services is delivered using team nursing. The Roper, Logan and Tierney model of Nursing Care is used to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patients’ needs and subsequent requests. Family and relatives are actively encouraged to participate in the patient’s treatment programme.
The ward caters for student nurses from both Trinity College Dublin and Moore Abbey. We also afford valuable experience to those interested in the medical and nursing professions by providing placement programmes for both pre-nursing students and transition students from local schools around Kildare.
Ward staff are active participants in the various hospital committees and regularly update their knowledge and practice through study days.
